Review: The Eternity Cure

The Eternity Cure (Blood of Eden, book 2) by Julie Kagawa

theeternitycure

Genre: Dystopian
Edition Reviewed: eBook
Amazon: Hardcover | Kindle
Goodreads: The Eternity Cure

Allison Sekemoto has vowed to rescue her creator, Kanin, who is being held hostage and tortured by the psychotic vampire Sarren. The call of blood leads her back to the beginning—New Covington and the Fringe, and a vampire prince who wants her dead yet may become her wary ally.

Even as Allie faces shocking revelations and heartbreak like she’s never known, a new strain of the Red Lung virus that decimated humanity is rising to threaten human and vampire alike.

Review:

****Review copy received through Netgalley for an honest review.****

Leaving off from the last book Allie is still on the hunt for Sarren to find Kanin. Of course we all new that the journey would lead her back to New Coventon the place where everything began. Even though I figured Allie would somehow end up joining forces with Jackel, I thoroughly enjoyed the whole thing. Those two are a hoot together. They both push and pull in a relationship that is good for Jackel and not so good for Allie.

Oh, and Zeke. Sweet, yummy, amazing, wonderful, and awesome Zeke. There was no way that their story wouldn't continue after the amazingness of the last book. The love story of vampire and human that Kagawa has spun is truly—using my own words—"sweet and forbidden romance". Even when it wasn't in the forefront of the series, I was obsessed about these two. Don't get me wrong the story that isn't all about the romance, the rest of the story is just as magnificent, but the love story is sooooooooo good that my mind couldn't help but fret and obsess over it.

Mind. Boom! Boom! Brain matter all over the place! The Eternity Cure has been high on my list as the most anticipated sequel of 2013. Its magical to feel this kind of need for a book. Of course reading this book fed the hunger, but left me starving when the last page turned. Kagawa is amazing at mixing dystopian, romance, action, mystery, vampires, and haunting love. Sure a few things are predictable, but the character growth and developments are a balm to the picky reader. Allie's inner monster is ever progressing and I look forward to seeing the next metamorphosis. Oh, and to the end of this latest cliffhanger!

Sexual Content: Sexual humor, making out, and talks of getting it on!

5/5- Fabulous, a beautiful obsession!

Shera’s thoughts:

Thank you!! What a step up from the horrible averageness of the last cover. Way to go. Though if that is supposed to be the main character . . . what’s with the sudden change in her appearance.

Cursed by S.J. Harper

Cursed Series: Fallen Sirens, book 1

Shera’s thoughts:

Apparently “S.J. Harper is the pseudonym for the writing team of authors Jeanne C. Stein and Samantha Sommersby”, I very cool team up if you ask me.

Have to be honest the book sounds amazing, but the cover is kind of average. Good standard UF cover.

Shera’s thoughts:

The typography is really neat in its concept. But it doesn’t fit. The typography or the back ground image needs to be changed. To me they just really clash.

Deception Cove by Jayne Castle

The Lost Night (Rainshadow, #1)(Harmony, #9)

Deception Cove Series: Rainshadow, book 2 (Harmony, book 10)

Add it: Goodreads | Amazon
Genre: Paranormal Romance

Shera’s thoughts:

I will never get why authors write as “fill in blank” and than they put their names on the books anyway.

Also Why is the pseudonym is the biggest thing on the cover. You have to hunt down the title.

This cover clearly matches the last book, but I still don’t like them.

Dragon Mine by Jaime Rush

Shera’s thoughts:

The cut off above the nose thing is escalating in popularity. It’s a nice cover attempt to bring us a different kind of man candy! (You know thinking with the shirt on.)

Fire & Ash by Jonathan Maberry

Shera’s thoughts:

Fits the series nicely. Never been a fan of these covers, but I love the aggression between the two.

first-bite Series: Dark Wolf, book 1

Shera’s thoughts:

I know it’s cheesy, but it’s a campiness that I’ve come to enjoy for my PNR titles.

Gotta love a woman in black.

Gossamer Wing Series: Steam and Seduction, book 1

Shera’s thoughts:

There aren’t to many elements that pop out and scream Steampunk, but I still love it regardless. It’s like a subtle steampunk vibe.

He looks like the VD Damon and the gears on the hat is a really nice touch.

Shera’s thoughts:

This top looks a lot like the last one, I think one is supposed to be purple and the other blue?

Still cool covers, like the magic coming out of her hand.

Shera’s thoughts:

I love the covers for this series. But I feel like this cover is more of an anthology one. They pulled out all the stops for the two anthology covers there, but they should have saved those for “actual” books.

Shera’s thoughts:

I’ll admit I thought the female would get to be front and center again, but other than that I like the cover.

Wednesday Wishes

Well I finally finished a TV series that I’ve always wondered how it all ended. Avatar: The Last Air Bender. Yeppers, I’m one of those.

Have to say it was a great ending, I wondered how Ang would save the world yet remain true to himself.

That said let’s get back to book loving.

Moonshifted
An Edie Spence Novel
Cassie Alexander

After surviving a brutal vampire attack, Nurse Edie Spence is ready to get back to work—attending to supernatural creatures in need of medical help. But her nursing skills are put to the test when she witnesses a hit-and-run on her lunch break. The injured pedestrian is not only a werewolf, he’s the pack leader. And now Edie’s stuck in the middle of an all-out were-war…

With two rival packs fighting tooth and nail, Edie has no intention of crossing enemy lines. But when she meets her patient’s nephew—a tattooed werewolf named Lucas with a predatory gleam in his eye that’s hard to resist—Edie can’t help but choose sides. The question is: can she trust this dangerous new ally? And can she trust her own instincts when she’s near him? Either way, Edie can’t seem to pull away—even if getting involved makes her easy prey…

Currently I’m reading the first book and I’m enjoying it a lot. So of course I’m wish’n and hoping for the next book. And well the next ones . . .
