Book Blogger Hop! July 9-12

I have been wanting to join the hope for a while, so yippee! Which is hosted by Crazy For Books, join here.
This week's question: Tell us about some of your favorite authors and why they are your favorites!

Gosh this is a tough one! I usually throw my favorite quote out there as an answer.
I could no sooner choose a favorite star in the heavens. -Danielle (Ever After)
However this time I'll elaborate I bit by going over some important authors.

First up JK Rowling. After reading her Harry Potter books she made me realize that I could read books for more then just passing my English classes. It was fresh and a whole new world to experience, the realm of Fantasy. After my descent into Wizards and Witches land I couldn't bring myself to leave.
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Harry Potter, #1)

Kate Forsyth is another author that cemented the deal. Her unique writing style and the Irish like land captivated my heart. The dialogue was daring, how many authors can pull off old Irish (hope that's what you call it)? Book after book of entertainment: battles, love drama,  witches magic, and redemption. The idea of a land were Witches came across space and time to find sanctuary from persecution on earth fascinated me. Then when the reader comes in Witches are being hunted again, and now is the time to fight for freedom. Plus, the evil villain is a female!
The Witches of Eileanan (The Witches of Eileanan, #1)

Forsyth was the point of no return. Robin McKinley, Patrician C Wrede are also culprits in my descent into book addiction.
The Hero and the Crown
Dealing with Dragons (Enchanted Forest Chronicles, #1)

Urban Fantasy addiction didn't hit until one faithful day I stumbled across I free read for Guilty Pleasures by Laura K. Hamilton. She fed my very unhealthy addiction for vampires and other terrors of the mind. Gritty and to the point with a kick ass heroine I had to have more fangs. Soon I was spiraling down even deeper. Patricia Briggs, Kim Harrison, Rachel Caine, and Rob Thurman.

Guilty Pleasures (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, #1) Moon Called (Mercedes Thompson, #1)
Dead Witch Walking (Rachel Morgan/The Hollows, #1)
Ill Wind (Weather Warden, #1)

Nightlife (Cal Leandros, #1)
Clearly I can go on and on, but these are just some key authors that I would recommend to new and old readers.  I still firmly will not pick a favorite author(s).

Thanks for stopping by!

I really enjoy urban fantasy, but apart from a couple series I have just scraped the surface of the adult side of the genre. Unfortunately it's a great example of "too little time, too little money" XD

Of the ones I have read that you've mentioned this post, great picks. :) I'm really enjoying the Harrison books esp.

Shera (Book Whispers) said...

Harrison is definitely one of the best the genre has to offer!!

I'm going to be joining the "too little time, too little money" side of things as well. -_-

Thanks for stopping by.
