When I'm Not Reading (3) Feather Companions

This is a fun little way for Book Bloggers to show what else we do besides live and breath books. Hard to imagine I know. This is hosted by the Unread Reader, just click on the awesome picture to check out and join the meme.

Besides my awesome love for my fury companions, I also have some fantastic feather companions.

Be prepared to be cuteified!

I wanted to get all of them in together, so get'em while they're snoozing, these are my Silkie chickens. The white one is a mixed breeding, and if I say so she has the cutest butt on the planet.  So I've got two reds (Ma Petite and Wild), buffs (Fox and Hound), blacks (Flash and Serena), and the white (Rid).

I'll have to upload some videos so you can see how cute they are when the run amok in the yard.

Oh! I'd love to see video of your unique little pets! They are super cute! Is tending to them a lot of work?

Great picture. Thanks for participating!

Oh, thank you. Not really they're pretty self efficient. Keep them fed and watered, tuck them in at night. They make fantastic eggs. I never thought there would be such a difference between organic free range chicken eggs and store bought.

The only real trouble is battling the neighbors and their dogs. We live in the country with a lot of neighbors popping up. Apparently they think that abolishes the leash law. Lost a lot of pets to hunting dogs and what not.

That is super scary! I would be worried sick about the dogs because although my dog is an inside pet, when we let him out in the backyard, he chases the baby birds. It always breaks my heart when he manages to catch one. I don't know how to get him to stop! :(

I have the same problem with my cat, Mr. Peaches. He just love to catch them. It really makes me sad when he catches humming birds.
