Wednesday Wishes

Hunting for books is one of my favorite things. Finding a new title is my equivalent of "getting rich." Whether the titles been around for a while, brand spanking new, or just not that common Wednesday Wishes is here for me to share them with you.

Before I DieBefore I Die by Jenny Downham

Tessa has just months to live. Fighting back against hospital visits, endless tests, drugs with excruciating side-effects, Tessa compiles a list. It’s her To Do Before I Die list. And number one is Sex. Released from the constraints of ‘normal’ life, Tessa tastes new experiences to make her feel alive while her failing body struggles to keep up. Tessa’s feelings, her relationships with her father and brother, her estranged mother, her best friend, and her new boyfriend, all are painfully crystallised in the precious weeks before Tessa’s time finally runs out.

I've been hearing great things about this book, but it's the second book by this author that really intruges me.

You Against MeYou Against Me by Jenny Downham

If someone hurts your sister and you're any kind of man, you seek revenge, right? If your brother's been accused of a terrible crime and you're the main witness, then you banish all doubt and defend him. Isn't that what families do? When Mikey's sister claims a boy assaulted her at a party, his world of work and girls begins to fall apart. When Ellie's brother is charged with the crime, but says he didn't do it, her world of revision, exams and fitting in at a new school begins to unravel. When Mikey and Ellie meet, two worlds collide. Brave and unflinching, this is a novel of extraordinary skillfulness and almost unbearable tension. It's a book about loyalty and the choices that come with it. But above all it's a book about love - for one's family and for another.

Couldn't find the goodreads share option to share the picture, but it really is pretty. I love the sound of this book, like a lot of teen angst headed our way!

Anna and the French KissAnna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins

Anna is looking forward to her senior year in Atlanta, where she has a great job, a loyal best friend, and a crush on the verge of becoming more. Which is why she is less than thrilled about being shipped off to boarding school in Paris—until she meets Étienne St. Claire: perfect, Parisian (and English and American, which makes for a swoon-worthy accent), and utterly irresistible. The only problem is that he's taken, and Anna might be, too, if anything comes of her almost-relationship back home.

As winter melts into spring, will a year of romantic near-misses end with the French kiss Anna—and readers—have long awaited?

There are some great reviews out there on this one. However the appeal is actually how much I loved Passports to Paris when I was younger. Bring on the French kissers--I mean Speakers.

It's all the cover baby! *fans self*

FarlanderFarlander by Col Buchanan

The Heart of the World is a land in strife. For fifty years the Holy Empire of Mann, an empire and religion born from a nihilistic urban cult, has been conquering nation after nation. Their leader, Holy Matriarch Sasheen, ruthlessly maintains control through her Diplomats, priests trained as subtle predators.

Ash is a member of an elite group of assassins, the Roshun, who offer protection through the threat of vendetta. Forced by his ailing health to take on an apprentice, he chooses Nico, a young man living in the besieged city of Bar-Khos. At the time, Nico is hungry, desperate, and alone in a city that finds itself teetering on the brink.

When the Holy Matriarch’s son deliberately murders a woman under the protection of the Roshun; he forces the sect to seek his life in retribution. As Ash and his young apprentice set out to fulfill the Roshun orders, their journey takes them into the heart of the conflict between the Empire and the Free Ports…into bloodshed and death.

The cover is pretty nice, plus the description sounds really different.

5.5"X8.5" Post Card Template Red by Kait Nolan

I was thirteen when I found out why my mother left me.

The letter that came on my birthday that year was such a shock to my poor dad. Given its contents, if I hadn’t been the one to snag the mail that day, I doubt he would ever have let me see it.

Given how he looks at me now—as if his beloved daughter has been replaced by a monster, one that can’t be evicted from the house because it still bears her face—I wish I hadn’t let him see it.

But at thirteen I couldn’t wrap my brain around the enormity of what my mother was imparting. I thought it was a joke. Dad thought she’d gone mad. But everything has unfolded so much as she predicted that it’s hard to ignore the fact that she could be right. That I am a monster, just waiting for the proper catalyst to be unleashed.

That I am cursed as she was.

This one just sounds amazing!
