Wednesday Wishes

It has been way too long since a Wednesday Wishes has been posted on Goodreads.  For the sake of my own embarrassment I’m not even going to go back and look when the last one went up.

However, it’s nice to see all the titles I’m lusting after. To the never ending TBR pile!!

Angelfall by Susan Ee

Angelfall (Penryn & the End of Days, #1)

Get it: Amazon | Goodreads
Genre: Paranormal YA
Series: Penryn & the End of Days, Book 1

It’s been six weeks since angels of the apocalypse descended to demolish the modern world. Street gangs rule the day while fear and superstition rule the night. When warrior angels fly away with a helpless little girl, her seventeen-year-old sister Penryn will do anything to get her back.

Anything, including making a deal with an enemy angel.

Raffe is a warrior who lies broken and wingless on the street. After eons of fighting his own battles, he finds himself being rescued from a desperate situation by a half-starved teenage girl.

Traveling through a dark and twisted Northern California, they have only each other to rely on for survival. Together, they journey toward the angels’ stronghold in San Francisco where she’ll risk everything to rescue her sister and he’ll put himself at the mercy of his greatest enemies for the chance to be made whole again.

The first sentence. That’s all it took. Plus, a recommendation from some good gals over at Goodreads.

Prince of Wolves by Quinn Loftis

Prince of Wolves (The Grey Wolves, #1)Get it: Amazon | Goodreads
Genre: Paranormal YA
Series: The Grey Wolves, Book 1

Jaque Pierce was just an ordinary 17 year old girl getting ready to start her senior year in high school in Coldspring, Texas. When a mysterious foreign exchange student from Romania moves in across the street, Jacque and her two best friends, Sally and Jen, don't realize the last two weeks of their summer was going to get a lot more interesting. From the moment Jacque sets eyes on Fane she feels an instant connection, a pull like a moth to a flame. Little does she know that the flame she is drawn to is actually a Canis Lupus, werewolf, and she just happens to be his mate; the other half of his soul. The problem is Fane is not the only wolf in Coldspring, Texas. Just as Fane and Jacque are getting to know each other, another wolf steps out to try and claim Jacque as his mate. Fane will now have to fight for the right to complete the mating bond, something that is his right by birth but is being denied him by a crazed Alpha. Will the love Fane has for Jacque be enough to give him the strength to defeat his enemy, will Jacque accept that she is Fane's mate and complete the bond between them?

Honestly I still haven’t made myself read the discription, but it’s that darn cover that got my attention. Hopefully cover lust won’t fail me again.

Juliet Immortal by Stacey Jay

Juliet Immortal (Juliet Immortal #1)Get it: Amazon | Goodreads
Genre: Paranormal YA
Series: Juliet Immortal, Book 1

Fans of Maggie Stiefvater's Shiver and Becca Fitzpatrick's Hush will relish this intense paranormal love story featuring Romeo and Juliet, literary history's most tragic couple, who meet again, not as true lovers, but truly as enemies.

The most tragic love story in history . . .

Juliet Capulet didn't take her own life. She was murdered by the person she trusted most, her new husband, Romeo Montague, a sacrifice made to ensure his own immortality. But what Romeo didn't anticipate was that Juliet would be granted eternity, as well, and would become an agent for the Ambassadors of Light. For 700 years, she's fought Romeo for the souls of true lovers, struggling to preserve romantic love and the lives of the innocent. Until the day she meets someone she's forbidden to love, and Romeo, oh Romeo, will do everything in his power to destroy that love.

"These violent delights have violent ends
And in their triumph die, like fire and powder,
Which as they kiss consume."
—Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare

Jay has become one of my favorite authors of light, from her Killer Fairy series to her funny ghost stories I lover her!! So now that Jay and one of the most dramatic love stories of all time are combining, how can I not get on board with that?

Romeo Redeemed by Stacey Jay

Unbeknownst to her, Ariel is important to both the evil Mercenaries and the love-promoting Ambassadors and holds the fate of the world in her hands. Romeo must win her heart and make her believe in love, turning her away from her darker potential before his work is discovered by the Mercenaries. While his seduction begins as yet another lie, it soon becomes his only truth. Romeo vows to protect Ariel from harm, and do whatever it takes to win her heart and soul. But when Ariel is led to believe his love is a deception, she becomes vulnerable to Mercenary manipulation, and her own inner darkness may ultimately rip them apart.

What I said about the first one. Look at that cover, it is so stunning!!

Playboy Prankster by Pamela Britton

Playboy PranksterGet it: Amazon | Goodreads
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Series: Extreme Racing, Book 1

From zero to sixty in a heartbeat—if she doesn’t throttle him first.   Extreme Racing, Book 1   When CJ Randall arrives in Nevada to cover the Celebrity Pro/Am Off Road Rally for DRIVE Magazine, she’s already stuck between a cactus and a hard place. Her boss has made it clear if this article doesn’t measure up, her job is wrecked. Then she gets a look at the “pro” half of her “am”: Tan. Rich. Overconfident. Unsuitable. Bachelor. Lacking. Ethics.   T.R.O.U.B.L.E.   She’s sworn off tall, dark and handsome men. Too bad the desert heat is making her hyperventilate like a hormone-crazed teenager.   Despite her makeup-free face and ready-to-go attitude—a far cry from the high-maintenance women he’s used to—Bryce Danvers doesn’t expect CJ to last an hour. To his surprise, she toughs out the entire day. The least he can do is show his appreciation with some fast food and a friendly kiss.   The instant their lips connect, warning klaxons go off in CJ’s head. He’s a taste of heaven she can’t afford to sample again. Bryce finds himself wanting to give her generous curves a bumper-to-bumper inspection. And his focus on the checkered flag shot all to hell.   Warning: If you like your stories PG-13, this is not the book for you. If you like Boy Scout race car drivers with clean-cut reputations, you should pass. And if you like to breathe while reading, steer clear. Love, laughter and hot, hot, hot sex scenes will leave you gasping for air.

The title of this book really puts me off.  The cover sold me as a Fast and Furious fan, it really bring up yummy Diesel images in my mind. After reading the description it was a no brainer.

Fated by Benedict Jacka

FatedGet it: Amazon | Goodreads
Genre: Urban Fantasy
Series: Alex Verus, Book 1

Alex Verus is part of a world hidden in plain sight, running a magic shop in London. And while Alex's own powers aren't as showy as some mages, he does have the advantage of foreseeing the possible future--allowing him to pull off operations that have a million-to-one-chance of success.

But when Alex is approached by multiple factions to crack open a relic from a long-ago mage war, he knows that whatever's inside must be beyond powerful. And thanks to his abilities, Alex can predict that by taking the job, his odds of survival are about to go from slim to none...

So a good friend on goodreads reading this and our tastes tend to run the same.  The cover looks different and it will be nice to add another male lead to my UF pile. Also, I’m a sucker for the underdog.

River Road by Suzanne Johnson

River Road (Sentinels of New Orleans, #2)Get it: Amazon | Goodreads
Genre: Urban Fantasy
Series: Sentinels of New Orleans

Hurricane Katrina is long gone, but the preternatural storm rages on in New Orleans. New species from the Beyond moved into Louisiana after the hurricane destroyed the borders between worlds, and it falls to wizard sentinel Drusilla Jaco and her partner, Alex Warin, to keep the preternaturals peaceful and the humans unaware. But a war is brewing between two clans of Cajun merpeople in Plaquemines Parish, and down in the swamp, DJ learns, there’s more stirring than angry mermen and the threat of a were-gator.

Wizards are dying, and something—or someone—from the Beyond is poisoning the waters of the mighty Mississippi, threatening the humans who live and work along the river. DJ and Alex must figure out what unearthly source is contaminating the water and who—or what—is killing the wizards. Is it a malcontented merman, the naughty nymph, or some other critter altogether? After all, DJ’s undead suitor, the pirate Jean Lafitte, knows his way around a body or two.

It’s anything but smooth sailing on the bayou as the Sentinels of New Orleans series continues.

So after my review of the first book we all know I was let down. However, I really want this series to work out and I’ve very excited for the release of the second book.

The Bone Conjurer by Alex Archer

The Bone Conjurer (Rogue Angel, #24)Get it: Amazon | Goodreads
Genre: Urban Fantasy
Series: Rogue Angel, Book 1

From the ashes of an ancient holy order comes an unholy relic...

In the time of the Crusades, the Knights Templars were holy warriors who seemed to be blessed by God himself. But over the years, the order dissolved into mysteries both sacred and profane--creating an object whose power bends to the true nature of its owner....

But until she held it in her hands, archaeologist Annja Creed hadn't heard of the Skull of Sidon nor the twisted tale of its origins. Even now, she's still not convinced. Yet someone wants it badly enough to hire a man who wields power beyond her imagining. Power enough to prevent Annja from protecting the mysterious skull. And power enough to kill.

Wow! Book 24!! I actually have up to the latest ones, which I think are in the 30s. Rogue Angel is a series I’ve wanted to read for over 5 years, but it was hard to find the books in the right order. So now that I’ve got some ereaders I’ve started collecting this series.

Sadly I have yet to start it . . .
