Paranormalcy

Sixteen-year-old Evie's job is bagging and tagging paranormals. Possessing the strange ability to see through their glamours, she works for the International Paranormal Containment Agency. But when someone--or something--starts taking out the vamps, werewolves, and other odd beasties she's worked hard to help become productive members of society, she's got to figure it out before they all disappear and the world becomes utterly normal.

Normal is so overrated.

Last Sacrifice (Vampire Academy, #6)

The final book in the Vampire Academy series.

Paranormalcy sounds so GREAT! The cover is awesome as well, I want that dress. I'm so excited for the 6th book to come out in the Vampire Academy series. It makes me so sad that the final book is in sight, but very relieved that an end is in site. (Finally a series will be finished, yah!)

I may have missed some books or got the release dates mixed up, so forgive me and let me know what I need to fix or add. On another note you probably noticed that I try to note whether a book is coming out in paperback and hardback. Some of the titles may have come out already, but they haven't been released in paperback!

Quoting on Monday

This week I really didn't find any quotes in my current read to share. So I decided to share some of my favorite quotes from the fabulous Richelle Mead. (I confess I may be a little too obsessed with her books.)

"Only a true best friend can protect you from your immortal enemies."
— Richelle Mead (Vampire Academy)

"The only thing better than imagining Dimitri carrying me in his arms was imagining him shirtless while carrying me in his arms."
— Richelle Mead (Vampire Academy)

"Sometimes you wake up from a dream. Sometimes you wake up in a dream. And sometimes, every once in a while, you wake up in someone else's dream. "
— Richelle Mead (Succubus Blues)

"'Well, that depends, I suppose. I heard someone once say that men dance the same way they have sex. So, if you want everyone here to think you're the kind of guy who just sits around and—'
He stood up. 'Let's dance.' "
— Richelle Mead (Succubus Blues)

"Vampires. Honestly, they're like children sometimes. "
— Richelle Mead (Succubus Blues)

"Eugenie: "I tentatively attempted to make contact with the muscles in my body. They told me to leave them the fuck alone.""
— Richelle Mead (Storm Born)

"Kiyo: "The only way to lose a kingdom is if your power drops or..well, if you're killed."
Eugenie: "I'm sure Volusian would love to help with that."
My minion walked near me, needing no horse to move swiftly. Upon hearing his name, he said, "I would perform the deed with great relish and much suffering on your part, mistress."
"You can't put a price on that kind of loyalty, " I told Kiyo."
— Richelle Mead (Thorn Queen)

I really cut down on all the quotes I had picked out. I just love Richelle Mead! Any who, hope you enjoyed the quotes!

Sunday Sweets

This is a fun little weekly meme hosted by The Story Siren.

I decided to hit Borders up for some shiney new books this week.

The Devil's Playground (Morgan Kingsley, #5)
Even though I am only on book two, I couldn't stop myself, this has to be the best cover this series has had, book 5 of the Morgan Kingsley series.
Fragile Eternity (Wicked Lovely, #3)
Finally out in paperback, so excited, I am really hoping this one is better then Ink Exchange.
Sleeping with the Fishes (Fred the Mermaid, #1)
I finely decided to put myself out of my misery and simply buy the first book in the Fred the Mermaid series. It's so fun finding out what the main character's name in Davidson series are, Fred the mermaid, Betsy the vampire, and Jennifer Scales (but that one is pretty normal).
Jonas (Beautiful Dead, #1)
Wal-mart had Beautiful Dead in before Borders, I love how that happens some times. This cover is so beautiful, I have high expectations for the book.

That's what I got this week, can't wait to see what everyone else is getting. Just a heads up on March 30 I'm going to post my own little list of what is being released in April. I keep a calendar of release dates so I thought that would be fun. I admit I'm biased and only do the books I'm really interest in.

Dead Beautifulby Yvonne Woon

A haunting love story about desire, danger, and destiny.

After Renee Winters discovers her parents lying dead in California’s Redwood Forest in what appears to be a strange double murder, her grandfather sends her off to Gottfried Academy in Maine, a remote and mysterious high school dedicated to philosophy, “crude sciences,” and Latin: the Language of the Dead. It’s here she meets Dante, a dark and elusive student to whom she feels inexplicably drawn. As they get to know each other better, Dante can’t seem to control his attraction either, and their desires gradually deepen into a complex and dangerous romance. Dangerous because Dante is hiding a frightening secret. A secret so terrible, it has him fearing for Renee’s life.

Dante’s not the only one with secrets, though. Turns out Gottfried Academy has a few of its own… Like, how come students keep disappearing? Why are the prefect-like Monitors creeping around campus during the night? And what exactly are the Headmistress and Professors really up to? Renee is determined to find out why.

Dead Beautiful is both a compelling romance and thought-provoking read, bringing shocking new meaning to life, death, love, and the nature of the soul.

The Knight Angels (Book 1: Book of Love)

When seventeen-year-old Jane Taylor witnessed her father's death at age seven, something happened to her. Ever since, her thoughts have been consumed by death, going so far as to foresee the ever-changing deaths of those around her.

Sixteen-year-old Emily Taylor always resented her sister’s closeness with their father, who died when she was only six. Ever since she can remember, she’s had the strange ability to read minds, something her father held the key to. Left helpless, she drowns herself in a world of prescription drugs, sending her responsible older sister Jane – who acted as the mother her real mother refused to be – over the edge.

Seventeen-year-old Wes Green was adopted as a baby, left carelessly by parents that clearly did not love him. He moved in next door to Jane, sharing an alleyway window and finding in her a childhood friend that soon turned into his high-school crush. All summer, though, the pain that’s been wracking his body seemed to come with no explanation. He was done growing, was plenty healthy, and worked out regularly as a member of the wrestling team. When senior year starts, though, and the pain gets worse, the changes ahead of him are anything but what he expected, and far to animal for his taste.

When Max Gordon, doomed to be a teenager for the next thousand years, found himself standing above her dying body, he saw in her bright eyes something he hadn’t seen in the nearly one-hundred-years he’d spent roaming Earth. Her father was already dead, but there was a chance he could still save her from the wreck. Jane was her name, and she was only seven, but already she was all he ever wanted. It was his job to bring her back, but it was an act that could have been the biggest mistake of his life.

When four teens enter Glenwood High on an unseasonably cool day in September, no one but Max could understand the future that was ahead of them. Drawn together by blood and friendship, they each hide a dark secret that will soon help to bind them even closer.

When the one face Max hoped to never see again shows up on school grounds – his evil twin brother, Greg – he knows that coming back for Jane was the wrong thing to do. Finding that Greg already knows about Max’s attraction for Jane, Max finds he can no longer hope to leave again, afraid of what Greg will do.

Max has to protect Jane, Jane wants to be normal, Wes wants Jane to love him, and Emily just wants the voices to stop…

And Greg… he just wants everyone dead.

StarCrossed

Digger thrives as a spy and sneak-thief among the feuding religious factions of Gerse, dodging the Greenmen who have banned all magic. But when a routine job goes horribly wrong and her partner and lover Tegen is killed, she has to get out of the city, fast, and hides herself in a merry group of nobles to do so. Accepted as a lady's maid to shy young Merista Nemair, Digger finds new peace and friendship at the Nemair stronghold--as well as plenty of jewels for the taking. But after the devious Lord Daul catches her in the act of thievery, he blackmails her into becoming his personal spy in the castle, and Digger soon realizes that her noble hosts aren't as apolitical as she thought... that indeed, she may be at the heart of a magical rebellion.

Hush: An Irish Princess' Tale

Fifteen-year-old Melkorka, an Irish princess, is kidnapped by Russian slave traders and not only learns how to survive but to challenge some of the brutality of her captors, who are fascinated by her apparent muteness and the possibility that she is enchanted.

Ash

In the wake of her father’s death, Ash is left at the mercy of her cruel stepmother. Consumed with grief, her only joy comes by the light of the dying hearth fire, re-reading the fairy tales her mother once told her. In her dreams, someday the fairies will steal her away, as they are said to do. When she meets the dark and dangerous fairy Sidhean, she believes that her wish may be granted.

The day that Ash meets Kaisa, the King’s Huntress, her heart begins to change. Instead of chasing fairies, Ash learns to hunt with Kaisa. Though their friendship is as delicate as a new bloom, it reawakens Ash’s capacity for love—and her desire to live. But Sidhean has already claimed Ash for his own, and she must make a choice between fairy tale dreams and true love.

Entrancing and romantic, Ash is an empowering retelling of Cinderella about choosing life and love over solitude and death, where transformation can come from even the deepest grief.

Blood Vice

Mafia hit man. Vampire. The criminal underworld just got a whole lot darker.

The Nightfall Syndicate, Book 1

Business has never been better for hit man Karl Vance. Boston is awash in mafia blood, and Vance has a certain fondness for blood. He’s a master vampire—one of the most powerful of his kind. Having sworn to never again feed on the blood of innocents, Karl preys instead on Boston’s criminal underworld. Which makes him a valuable asset to those who deal in death.

Maria Ricardi intends to use that asset to its full extent in order to gain power within her patriarchal crime family. Vance thinks he’s been hired to keep track of the family’s princess, but she’s got a plan to get her hands dirty and earn the respect she deserves. And she’s not above using their instant attraction to get what she wants.

That driving ambition draws the attention of a rival clan’s newest and most dangerous “consultant.” Alejandro Delgado, Vance’s centuries-old nemesis. Delgado zeroes in on the one chink in Vance’s armor—his fondness for the headstrong Maria.

When she becomes enslaved by Delgado’s unnatural kiss, only one thing is certain. Vance has to decide which he wants more. To settle the score—or rescue her soul.

Such fun books. I love the cover for heartless, it makes me so giddy just looking at it. I love all of the retold fairy tales!

Quoting on Monday

All right, first up is Gideon by Jacquelyn Frank. This quote just tickles me because Gideon was such an emotionless character in Jacob.

"Gideon, you are nothing but an ancient pervert," she teased him.
"And this is an issue because . . . ?" -Gideon and Legna

Now for Wit'ch Fire by James Clemens. Not really sure what I expected out of this book, but so far I like it. (To the quote, aren't all authors some form of liars? ^_-)

First of all, the author is a liar. - foreword to Wit'ch Fire

Sorry there is so little. I will also be catching up up on my reviews, I'm so behind from being sick. Hope all of your Mondays were awesome!

Sunday Sweets

This follows The Story Sirens in my Mailbox meme.

Fish Out of Water (Fred the Mermaid, #3)

I went to the DI yet again this week, the only thing I don't like about shopping there is you'll never get the books in order. So now I've got to keep my eyes open for book one of Davidson's mermaid books, this is  book 3 or 4.
Mira, Mirror

This one looks like fun, it has glowing priase from Holly Black, and a really fun discription.
The Dragon Token (Dragon Star, #2)
Alas another out of order one, this is book 2 of the Dragon Star books. At least I have the first trilogy, so I feel a little comforted.

If you want more details just click on the book and it will take you over to goodreads. Can't wait to see what everyone  else got!

Cover Crush

The Clockwork Angel (The Infernal Devices, #1)
The art is so cool! If you haven't seen this yet, I decided to share it. Let me know what you think. I love the way he's taking his hat off (or putting it on).

Nightshade (Nightshade, #1)
I was going over some of the books in my Wishlist and saw that the cover for Nightshade was released. I don't know what I was expecting, but I like it!

Beautiful Darkness (The Caster Chronicles, #2)
Wow! The covers for this series is so beautiful. The gate and stars are so simple, the fancy lettering fits it!

Bless you!

I now have three awards! I am so excited (obviously). Any way, Lisa from Book Blabs has given me this beauty. Thank you, thank you.
So of course there are some rules for this award!

Thank & link to the person that gave you the award. Pass this award onto 15 bloggers you've recently discovered and think are fantastic. Contact the blogs and let them know they've won. State 7 things about yourself.

Now for 7 things, I'm not sure what to share. I'm a weird individual.

  1. I'm an anime junkie (aka Japanese cartoons)
  2. My favorite color is actually Neon Green (imagine if I had picked that as my site theme!)
  3. I once “accidentally” stalked a construction worker with one of my peeps. I'm not sure who was more disturbed by the action, me or the worker.
  4. My first PR book was Succubus Blues, I never stood a chance after that.
  5. I'm not fond of the Twilight books, but I did watch the Twilight movie and I liked it.
  6. Besides collecting stuffed Unicorns I like to collect ducks, rubber ducks. Pirate, witches, cat, sheep and the ducks go on. (No I don't let the duckies take baths, but they do keep my fish company.)
  7. I love my pets, 3 cats, 7 chickens, and 2 fish.
Ok, so maybe a lame list. Didn't quite find 15 bloggers, but I will spread the love.

The Body Finder

"A serial killer on the loose. A girl with a morbid ability. And the boy who would never let anything happen to her.

Violet Ambrose can find the dead. Or at least, those who have been murdered. She can sense the echoes they leave behind... and the imprints they leave on their killers. As if that weren't enough to deal with during junior year, she also has a sudden, inexplicable, and consuming crush on her best friend since childhood, Jay Heaton.

Now a serial killer has begun terrorizing Violet's small town... and she realizes she might be the only person who can stop him."
----

Violet Ambrose is grappling with two major issues: Jay Heaton and her morbid secret ability. While the sixteen-year-old is confused by her new feelings for her best friend since childhood, she is more disturbed by her “power” to sense dead bodies—or at least those that have been murdered. Since she was a little girl, she has felt the echoes the dead leave behind in the world . . . and the imprints that attach to their killers.

Violet has never considered her strange talent to be a gift; it mostly just led her to find dead birds her cat had tired of playing with. But now that a serial killer has begun terrorizing her small town, and the echoes of the local girls he’s claimed haunt her daily, she realizes she might be the only person who can stop him.

Despite his fierce protectiveness over her, Jay reluctantly agrees to help Violet on her quest to find the murderer—and Violet is unnerved to find herself hoping that Jay’s intentions are much more than friendly. But even as she’s falling intensely in love, Violet is getting closer and closer to discovering a killer . . . and becoming his prey herself.

The Ghost and the Goth

After a close encounter with the front end of a school bus, Alona Dare goes from Homecoming Queen to Queen of the Dead. Now she’s stuck here in spirit form with no sign of the big, bright light coming to take her away. To make matters worse, the only person who might be able to help her is Will Killian, a total loser/outcast type who hates the social elite. He alone can see and hear her, but he wants nothing to do with the former mean girl of Groundsboro High.

Can they get over their mutual distrust—and this weird attraction between them—to work together before Alona vanishes for good and Will is locked up for seeing things that don’t exist?

His Darkest Hunger (Jaguar Warriors, #1)

Jaxon Castille: jaguar shifter, warrior, assassin. He has long hungered for the chance to make his former lover, Libby Jamieson, pay for her deadly betrayal. After three long years he’s finally found her. The hunt is over…

But the Libby that he finds is not what he expected. She has no memory of their tumultuous affair; of her treachery; of anything beyond her own name. A shadowy and deadly clan has marked them both for death, and in an instant the game changes: the hunter has become the hunted.

On the run, with the ghosts of their past between them and a dark, desperate hunger quickly reclaiming their bodies and souls, Libby and Jaxon must discover the truth behind the dark forces working against them. Together, they must grab hold of a destiny that has the power to either heal them or destroy them.

But the truth is far more shattering than anyone could imagine…

The cover for His Darkest Hunger is scandalous. The Ghost and the Goth, looks so cute!

Quoting on Monday, on Tuesday

Well I'm recovered and so I'll give this weeks goodies. All the quotes are from Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater

I thought she was the most beautiful girl I'd ever seen, a tiny, bloody angel in the snow, and they where going to destroy her. -Sam

What I wanted to do was remind her of how she'd fallen in love with me as a wolf. Without words. Seeing beyond the obvious meaning of my wolf skin to what was inside. To whatever it was that made me Sam, always. -Sam

I was losing sight of the wolf ahead of me; the one inside me seemed closer all of a sudden. -Sam

(Grace states) “Well, it was love at first sight.”

The girl sighed. “That is just so romantic. Do me a favor, and don't you two ever change. The world needs more love at first sight.” - Girl at the candy store

Clearly I'm really getting into the character Sam. For some reason I just can't click with Grace. The girl in the candy store is right, we need more love at first sight.

Begging for Forgiveness

Ok, I know this post is supposed to be Quoting on Monday, alas I use this time to beg for forgiveness. I've just come home from my little mini-VK and need time to zone out. So I promise that Tuesday I shall post my quotes, because there are many.

I hope all of your weekends have been as fun as mine! I'll see you all Tuesday.

Peace out.

Sunday Sweets

This post follows The Story Sirens meme, In My Mailbox. Where everyone takes  at turn to show what yummy books they've bought. I'm posting a little early because I may not be in on Sunday.

I hit borders this week and had quite a surprise, which I'll get to!

The Frog Princess (Tales of the Frog Princess, #1)

This is apparently the book that inspired the Disney movie, I decided this would be a good thing to read before I watched the movie.
The Forest of Hands and Teeth

Finally out in paperback! I've been so curious to read this book, now at last it is mine!
Skin Hunger (A Resurrection of Magic, #1)

I have never heard of Skin Hunger, the second book Sacred Scars actually captured my attention. Then a I read about the first 5 pages, really good. Then that silver thing on the cover proclaiming it was a National Book Award Finalist and Holly Blacks praise sold me. (Lets be honest, Holly Black's recommendation alone would have sold me!)
Dreams of the Dead (The Waking, #1)

The Cover sold me, I mean I read the back of the book, it was all the cover. Love at first sight.
Night Tides (Lady of the Lakes)

The cover, agian, captured my attention. However, I did read the first pages and the book discription before making my purchase.

ONE BY ONE THEY GO MISSING.
AND IN THE LAKE A VOICE CRIES OUT:
"SAVE THEM . . . "
It reminds me of a line from the Watchmen.

Now for my DI (Deseret Industry) books. DI is basically a thriftstore.

Undead and Uneasy (Undead, #6)

I've got book one and now book six. It's hardback for $2 it was worth it and it still had the new sticker on it!
Wit'ch Fire (The Banned and the Banished, #1)

So excited about this one! I've been afraid of buying this title for fear of not liking it, now I can finally try it.
Gardens of the Moon (Malazan Book of the Fallen, #1)

Now for the fun part.

I've finally lost my author event (or is it book signing) virginity! Jessica Day George was at my local Borders store this Friday. I was so bummed out, because the sign proclaimed that she would be signing from 12-2pm, I work tell 4:30pm. The whole work day I just wanted to leave early, take the bad attendance and run. Alas I didn't bring any books for her to sign, dutifully I stuck it out. Then, after work, went to Borders for some comfort purchases. To my surprise when I walked in I noticed a chick sitting at a table and signing books! The Gods had smiled upon me, Jessica Day George was signing until 6pm! (I should take this time to state I apparently read the wrong signing times. ^_-) So I ended up buying all three of her Dragon books for her to sign. (I already have the first two, but heck it's my first signed books, my splurge is justified.)

I'm a really shy person when I first meet people, but I did attempt to make a little chit-chat. Sure it was about names, really lame I know, but I had Jessica Day George semi shouting “She-ra Princess of Power.” Arm raise and everything. Made my day!

So now I have her awesome (pink) signature in my books, with cool dragon stamp. George's signature is so cool looking, it makes me wonder what other author signature's look like.

Oh, and I got a cool book mark with a picture of George on it and all of her books. Which brings my attention to her other books. I had no idea that she had any other books, now I have to look into them.

So now that I've bragged to all of you about my great fortune. I'm going to find other people to bombard and shout the awesomeness that occurred on Friday. I'm sure my family is hoping my memory will fail and I'll stop ranting about it.

In between bragging, I can't wait to see what everyone else got!
