Eveline Armstrong is fiercely loved and protected by her powerful clan, but outsiders consider her “touched.” Beautiful, fey, with a level, intent gaze, she doesn’t speak. No one, not even her family, knows that she cannot hear. Content with her life of seclusion, Eveline has taught herself to read lips and allows the outside world to view her as daft. But when an arranged marriage into a rival clan makes Graeme Montgomery her husband, Eveline accepts her duty—unprepared for the delights to come. Graeme is a rugged warrior with a voice so deep and powerful that his new bride can hear it, and hands and kisses so tender and skilled that he stirs her deepest passions.

Graeme is intrigued by the mysterious Eveline, whose silent lips are ripe with temptation and whose bright, intelligent eyes can see into his soul. As intimacy deepens, he learns her secret. But when clan rivalries and dark deeds threaten the wife he has only begun to cherish, the Scottish warrior will move heaven and earth to save the woman who has awakened his heart to the beautiful song of a rare and magical love.

Review:

Gonna keep this short and sweet. Started this because I'm a Maya Banks fan, and reading Never Seduce a Scot was shocking! Shocking to realize that this was the same author who was feeding my ménage erotica addiction. The writing is awesome! What was the cherry on top is that the heroine is deaf. How unique for a book, especially a historical. Everything about the book and the heroines deafness was handled well. The prejudices of that time to anything that was . . . off.

It's a basic story of a woman who tried to run away from the terrors that no one would protect her from, only to find herself still shipped off into a foreign land. The romance here is great and as she earns the hero's heart and tries to show a hostile clan of people that she's not an enemy. Oh, and even though she’s deaf of course the hero’s voice is the one thing she can kind of hear. Ah, so sweet!

The politics and setup for the series is nice, and I know I'll be looking into the other books in the series. Banks has definitely impressed me with this book, and now I have the courage to check out her other works. Solid historical romance.

Sexual Content: Oh, yes. There is. Nothing like her erotica, but still steamy. Sexual humor of course. Also, some dark references about what a wicked man wants to do . . .

3/5- Adored it, just a few minor details held it back.
