Just got done watching Kingsman: The Secret Service. It was pretty darn cool. Man I’ve missed good spy movies. Had a pretty awesome balance of action and plot. Maybe there’s still hope for Hollywood?

A Mad Zombie Party by Gena Showalter

Previous book(s) in series:

Goodreads | Amazon

a-mad-zombie-party Series: White Rabbit Chronicles, book 4

Add it: Goodreads | Amazon
Genre: Paranormal Young Adult

Shera’s thoughts:

Hmmmm, this is probably the weakest cover in the series. There’s something really weird about this girl on the cover. She doesn’t fit with the cake and tea.

It definitely matches the series though!

Banished by Kimberley Griffiths Little

Previous book(s) in series:

Goodreads | Amazon

banished Series: Forbidden, book 2

Add it: Goodreads | Amazon
Genre: Young Adult Historical

Shera’s thoughts:

All right, this outside of my genre. However, it was up on ATUF, and I just had to post it.

Yes, it is another dress cover. However, the motion that’s going on here is soooooooo cool! The background doesn’t really scream desert to me, but I can see it now that I’m aware that’s where this book takes place.

Bitter Bite by Jennifer Estep

Previous book(s) in series:

Goodreads | Amazon

bitter-bite Series: Elemental Assassin, book 14

Add it: Goodreads | Amazon
Genre: Urban Fantasy

Shera’s thoughts:

A series that never fails to get fabulous covers. Though the bare arms seems silly in that weather. Though I guess considering her power set I could see how she could survive the chill.

Love that spider’s web in the arch! Love how there’s always the spider ruin, a spider, web and other certain themes in each cover!

Flawless!

Burn by Elissa Sussman

Previous book(s) in series:

Goodreads | Amazon

burn Series: Four Sisters, book 2

Add it: Goodreads | Amazon
Genre: Young Adult Fantasy

Shera’s thoughts:

Fail. Sure it fits the series. Yet this cover just looks bad. Also, there’s no contrast.

The last one was dramatic and the title popped! This is just dull and not pleasing to the eye.

Burning Glass by Kathryn Purdie

Previous book(s) in series:

Goodreads | Amazon

burning-glass Series: Burning Glass, book 1

Add it: Goodreads | Amazon
Genre: Young Adult High Fantasy

Shera’s thoughts:

The burning jewelry doesn’t really . . . burn. The floating embers are a nice touch. The jewels just look like they’re crumbling.

Burning Glass actually has a lead with empath powers! I’m very excited to see that. Especially in a High Fantasy series.

Burning Midnight by Will McIntosh

Previous book(s) in series:

Goodreads | Amazon

burning-midnight Series: N/A

Add it: Goodreads | Amazon
Genre: Young Adult Fantasy

Shera’s thoughts:

I adore this! Those tentacles are even weaving around the title! So cool! The style and everything about this!

So unique!

Darken the Stars by Amy A. Bartol

Previous book(s) in series:

Goodreads | Amazon

darken-the-stars Series: Kricket, book 3

Add it: Goodreads | Amazon
Genre: Paranormal Young Adult

Shera’s thoughts:

The cover for these books are so lovely. I love the ethereal feel of them!

While I don’t think it’s as good as the first two, it’s pretty darn good.

Daughters of Ruin by K.D. Castner

Previous book(s) in series:

Goodreads | Amazon

daughter-of-ruin Series: N/A

Add it: Goodreads | Amazon
Genre: N/A

Shera’s thoughts:

“Game of Thrones meets Graceling”

Thank goodness I saw the awesome cover before reading the synopsis. Quite comparing books to those two books! For Pete’s sake, let a books stand on it’s own merits.

While her grey skin kind of freaks me out, I love that red is the only color here. Technically I’m pretty sure this counts as ANOTHER dress cover, but hey it’s a different dress. And is that I sword or scroll hiding behind her dress?

OK, so the synopsis is pretty darn cool. Just wish they could have not opened up with that first paragraph.

Dreamfever by Kit Alloway

Previous book(s) in series:

Goodreads | Amazon

dreamfever Series: Dreamfire, book 2

Add it: Goodreads | Amazon
Genre: Paranormal Young Adult

Shera’s thoughts:

It’s nice that they incorporated the wisp designs with the font this time. (Or whatever you call those things.) Love the gritty and dream like quality. Actually it feels king of like a ghost cover.

Either way cool!

Forest of Ruin by Kelley Armstrong

Previous book(s) in series:

Goodreads | Amazon

forest-of-ruin Series: Age of Legends, book 3

Add it: Goodreads | Amazon
Genre: Young Adult High Fantasy

Shera’s thoughts:

Ahhhhhhh! Look at that pretty-pretty-pretty dragon! So lovely. My heart be still!

The covers for this series have been pretty awesome. My one complaint is that the title color blends in. They need it to pop! However, I wonder if when they tried other ones if it didn’t look good.

So I won’t be so picky.

Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard

Previous book(s) in series:

Goodreads | Amazon

glass-sword Series: Red Queen, book 2

Add it: Goodreads | Amazon
Genre: Young Adult Fantasy

Shera’s thoughts:

Well the crown is right side up this time! It’s not as dramatic as the last cover, but it’s still very lovely.

So curious what the next cover is going to look like.

Into the Dim by Janet B. Taylor

Previous book(s) in series:

Goodreads | Amazon

into-the-dim Series: N/A

Add it: Goodreads | Amazon
Genre: Young Adult Time Travel

Shera’s thoughts:

Into the Dim is the worst title for a book I’ve heard in a while. Dim, come on.

Other than that this cover is pretty dope! Love the expression on the girls face, it’s exhilarating! Like she’s putting up a fight and facing something down. Or rushing into something dangerous.

Kingdom of Ashes by Rhiannon Thomas

Previous book(s) in series:

Goodreads | Amazon

kingdom-of-ashes Series: A Wicked Thing, book 2

Add it: Goodreads | Amazon
Genre: Young Adult Fantasy (fairytale retelling)

Shera’s thoughts:

Love this staircase scene!

Mercury Striking by Rebecca Zanetti

Previous book(s) in series:

Goodreads | Amazon

mercury-striking Series: The Scorpios Syndrome, book 1

Add it: Goodreads | Amazon
Genre: Paranormal Romance (dystopian?)

Shera’s thoughts:

See a cool cover with a man on it! No need to not have a shirt when you’ve got those kind of accessories!

So hot!

Library Jumpers by Brenda Drake

Previous book(s) in series:

Goodreads | Amazon

Library Jumpers Series: Library Jumpers, book 1

Add it: Goodreads | Amazon
Genre: Young Adult Paranormal

Shera’s thoughts:

Purple overlay is really hard to pull off. Usually a series holds off and that color until it’s got the more manageable colors under their belt.

I want to like it, but I don’t like the obvious Photoshop “inserted here” look.

Midnight Marked by Chloe Neill

Previous book(s) in series:

Goodreads | Amazon

midnight-market Series: Chicgoland Vampires, book 12

Add it: Goodreads | Amazon
Genre: Urban Fantasy

Shera’s thoughts:

This series has been pretty blessed with badass female covers. So I think this is a solid send off for the series.

I like to fondly think of this series as my “blade porn”. What covers are going to give it to me now?
