Sorry guys. I didn’t feel well. So With such a weekend after all the Star Wars reveals it was only right to get distracted by some of my favorite sci-fi films.

So I’ve pulled myself out of my state of geeking out to drool over some covers.

A Thousand Nights by E.K. Johnston

a-thousand-nights Series: N/A

Add it: Goodreads | Amazon
Genre: Young Adult Fantasy

Shera’s thoughts:

Hmmmm . . . a story that has had many rewrites. Classic ones. The cover makes me think there’s some twists. Which from the synopsis there are some mild ones. (Who knows wants the book comes out.)

Personally this particular story doesn’t interest me. But the cover interests me in trying this retelling.

Goal achieved.

Autumn Thorns by Yasmine Galenorn

Previous book(s) in series:

Goodreads | Amazon

autumn-thorns Series: Whisper Hollow, book 1

Add it: Goodreads | Amazon
Genre: Paranormal Romance

Shera’s thoughts:

Galenorn has been blessed by the book gods. (Or more likely her publishers.) She always has amazing covers!

I adore this cover! And those boots!

Love the typography and vector touches to the cover.

Blood of the Earth by Faith Hunter

Previous book(s) in series:

Goodreads | Amazon

blood-of-the-earth Series: Soulwood, book 1

Add it: Goodreads | Amazon
Genre: Urban Fantasy

Shera’s thoughts:

Absolutely love that this cover fits the Jane Yellowrock covers. Especially because of the side design by the spine. But it’s still fresh enough that it stands.

Before I even saw Faith Hunter’s name I knew it was the spinoff!

Yeah!

Too Hot To Touch by Lora Leigh

Previous book(s) in series:

Goodreads | Amazon

too-hot-to-touch Series: The Breeds, anthology

Add it: Goodreads | Amazon
Genre: Paranormal Romance

Shera’s thoughts:

No. The cover and the title. No.

I get that it’s this series. One of the original PNRs series that made this look a stereotype to the genre.

What an eye sore.

True by Laney McMann

Previous book(s) in series:

Goodreads | Amazon

true Series: Fireborn, book 3

Add it: Goodreads | Amazon
Genre: Young Adult Fantasy

Shera’s thoughts:

Um. Why would they even think that this cover was OK?

The first two are so cool! This one is basically cranked out as a “it’s the last book we don’t have to try anymore” mentality.

Welcome to Shadowhunter Academy by Cassandra Clare & Sarah Rees Brennan

Previous book(s) in series:

Goodreads | Amazon

Welcome to the Shadowhunter Academy Series: Tales from Shadowhunter Academy

Add it: Goodreads | Amazon
Genre: Paranormal Young Adult

Shera’s thoughts:

I can not read the text!!! The font isn’t bold enough to contrast on the cover, so they should have did something with the color.

But I do like this glimpse of aiming a bow.

White Hot by Ilona Andrews

Previous book(s) in series:

Goodreads | Amazon

white-hot Series: Hidden Legacy, book 2

Add it: Goodreads | Amazon
Genre: Paranormal Romance
(Urban Fantasy!)
Shera’s thoughts:

This cover tied my hands. It is a romance, but the series flows and feels like a Urban Fantasy.

But this cover screams PNR even more than the last one!

Oh. I’m a fan of hot man abs. But there is something off about this guy . . . it looks so . . . photoshopped/enhanced that I can’t stand it.

Wild Cat by Christine Feehan

Previous book(s) in series:

Goodreads | Amazon

wild-cat Series: Leopard People, book 8

Add it: Goodreads | Amazon
Genre: Paranormal Romance

Shera’s thoughts:

At first this cover is bad ass. But then you actually look at it . . . and it’s too much. Too many leopards.

It would have ben perfect with the sky and grassy background. Then a leopard skin overlay over the woman.

sigh. It just went to far.

Winter by Marissa Meyer

Previous book(s) in series:

Goodreads | Amazon

winter Series: The Lunar Chronicles, book 4

Add it: Goodreads | Amazon
Genre: Young Adult Sci-Fi
(Dystopian)
Shera’s thoughts:

Each new cover for the series is such a treat! While this is the weakest one, it’s still pretty ding-dong cool!

Love that they’re keeping the typography.
