Cover Coveting(3)

All cover art is not final!

Even though I’ve been back for a full week it’s still taking forever to get on top of things.  You just can’t ever leave home period, all the work piles up.  It defeats the purpose of a “vacation”. (Though I don’t think my leave can actually ever count as one.  Isn’t a vacation where you don’t have to work?)

Sigh, lets look at some pretty covers.

Heart of Atlantis by Alyssa Day

Shera’s Thoughts:  Well, it matches the other covers.  (Not even going to go onto the chest with animal pasted on.) The tiger looks cool.

Alpha Instinct by Katie Reus

Shera’s Thoughts:  This is a very typical cover for the UF genre. (Pretty positive this one is not a PNR, if it is hat’s off to them for not doing a tacky cover!)  That’s why I love it.  It’s rare that you can go wrong with leather and a bad ass pose.  Cool moonlight backgrounds don’t hurt either.  Plus, I like what they did with the title.

You can’t mistake which genre this debut belongs to.

Author’s Thoughts:

I'm very happy with the outcome. I wasn't sure exactly what I was envisioning, but this is much better than anything I could have come up with. She looks exactly like I imagined Ana, my main character would look like (with the exception of the leather vest thing, lol). And see the tattoo on her arm? Before the art department had done anything my editor asked if I had any input on what I wanted the wolf to look like so I had my hubby sketch something and it looks like they used what he drew almost exactly. Very cool!

Reap the East Wind by Glen Cook

Get the book: Reap the East Wind

Shera’s Thoughts: This is the 6th book in the series, but I'm not focusing on the other books. Instead I'm focusing on the vast difference between the old cover and the new cover they’re putting on for the re-print. This is another one where I would have never bought the book because the old cover didn't do it for me. Love the wind and fire effect the new one has.

I'm not really liking any of these covers no offense. The posture on the topless guy in the Alyssa Day book looks like he's inspecting his endowments...

No offense taken. Everybody has different tastes.

Now that you mentioned it I do "see" where he's looking. It solves that mystery.
