General Gossip:
Jess Haines is one of the current raising stars of the UF world, her second book comes out this January. So it gives me great pleasure to announce that Kensington will be publishing three more H&W Investigation books. No names yet, but you have to love it when one of your favorite series gets the green light for more fun!
To wit:
– Book Four: In Which Shiarra Realizes She's Been Dumb and Goes Kinda Nuts**
– Book Five: In Which Shiarra Visits California and Also Deals with Zombies**
– Book Six: In Which Shiarra Has To Deal With Some Issues That I'm Being Totally Vague About On Purpose**
**Not actual book titles, guys. C'mon. You know it'll be ZOMBIFIED BY THE OTHERS or something awesome like that.
After this stunning cover for Marr’s latest book, her first in a new adult series. I was just itching to get my hands on the description. Well at last it has been released.
The New York Times bestselling author of the Wicked Lovely series delivers her first novel for adult audiences-a captivating story about the living, the dead, and a curse that binds them
Three sips to mind the dead . . .Rebekkah Barrow never forgot the tender attention her grandmother, Maylene, bestowed upon the dead of Claysville, the town where Bek spent her adolescence. There wasn't a funeral that Maylene didn't attend, and at each Rebekkah watched as Maylene performed the same unusual ritual: three sips from a small silver flask followed by the words "Sleep well, and stay where I put you."
Now Maylene is dead and Bek must go back to the place-and the man-she left a decade ago. But what she soon discovers is that Maylene was murdered and that there was good reason for her odd traditions. It turns out that in placid Claysville, the worlds of the living and the dead are dangerously connected. Beneath the town lies a shadowy, lawless land ruled by the enigmatic Charles, aka Mr. D-a place from which the dead will return if their graves are not properly minded. Only the Graveminder, a Barrow woman, and the current Undertaker, Byron, can set things to right once the dead begin to walk.
A excerpt for Awakened has been relasesed!! So check it out here. You can read chapter 1, plus download 2 more chapters for your mp3 player!
No title or cover released yet for it, but I am eating up any news on author Kelly Gay’s new young adult series. So in her own words here’s what’s up!
Finally. Almost done this YA manuscript! I turned in Charlie #3, THE HOUR OF DUST AND ASHES in mid-November, and have been working like crazy to wrap up the YA to turn it in today.
This book (YA) has exhausted me. In good ways and bad. Never have I felt so many emotions with a book. Happiness, excitement, sadness, grief, sickened... And these things I consider good because it means the story has depth and emotional impact. The actual writing of it? Total ups and downs. No consistency there. Optimistic, stressful, bouts of extreme creativity, followed by a total blankess that I have never experienced before, confidence highs and lows....
All I can say is that I'm glad it's done. My brain hurts. My body hurts. And I'm so happy I don't care.
I have a fabulous title that I hope will stay (and will share as soon as I can). But at times, I really wanted to title this book, SOME CRAZY-ASS SHIT.
For some reason I'm one of the last readers to find out that City of Bones is being made into a movie. Out of all the books that are being made into movies right now, I would think this one would appeal the most. Funny dialogue, awesome world, yummy men, and just plain awesomeness. This has the potential for some epic graphic effects. So word is out on who the leading lady will be for Clary.
So check out who it is and what the author thinks here. Personally I like the choice, can’t wait to see what everyone else thinks.
New Covers:
This is the latest book in The Shadowfae Chronicles. Not my favorite cover. The shard of glass in her hand is really cool, the whore dress is a little to old UF. I thought we had gotten past those kind of covers.
Author Wit:
Check out author Lilith Saintcrow’s post about the life of rereading for an author. It’s really fun so check it out here.
