Lips Don’t Lie

As a reader I always want the download on what's going on with authors. Do they have new books coming out, how’s their latest tour going, any thing juicy! So, I decided to bring the news to my readers. I'm lurking around all of those author blogs anyway, might as well do something productive.

Last week was the debut of Lips Don’t Lie and I want to thank everyone who dropped in.  I know I only had one comment, greatly appreciated, but my Reports let me know I was loved.  This week I tried to clean up the mess I had last week. This should be about the same format each week.

Oh, my!  So much news this week I didn’t know where to start!

General Gossip:

F irst up I have to ask, did anyone else know that Kim Harrison had a pseudonyms?  Well I sure didn’t!  Plus her pseudonyms blew me away, it would have been the last author I would have thought she was. On further reflection it does make since. Think about it real hard, who do you think Harrison’s pseudonyms is?

First Truth

Dead Witch Walking (Rachel Morgan/The Hollows, #1)

Bzzz, time up! Dawn Cook!  It just blows me away.  I had Cook’s(Harrison’s?) book on my shelf first.  Now to find out Cook and Harrison are one and the same, crazy!   I feel so guilty that I’ve only read one Cook book and read everything I can under Harrison.

M

ellissa Marr is going to have some new books on the way!  HarperCollins has the rights to two new books, Marr intends the two books to be part of a trilogy.

Publishers Weekly has a little blurb on the books:

The new series is about a young female assassin living in a world where, as Heifetz put it, "myth meets science." HarperCollins has set fall 2013 as the tentative release for book one in the new series."

The expected release date is supposed to be fall of 2013 for book one.  (Author’s post  here.)

L auren Kate has been working hard on her third book in the Fallen series, Passion—a prequel to everything that occurs in Fallen and in Torment. Here’s what Kate says about the experience, “In its conception, this book felt like an impossible project to me.”

Fallen (Fallen, #1)
Author’s post here.

It covers a span of 5000 plus years, dips into a new setting, a new country, and usually, a new century with each new chapter. And it aims to explain just about every important moment that ever passed between Luce and Daniel. Definitely the biggest narrative challenge I’ve ever given myself. I was nervous before I started writing it. I’d had such a great, fun, charmed experience writing Torment, but I know this book was going to be much more complicated, much more taxing. Just as I did when I started writing Fallen, I turned to books for help.

Elsie's BirdI can’t imagine the dedication it takes to finish a book, let a lone 300.  With the release of Elsie’s Bird, author Jane Yolen will be doing just that.

Yolen confesses she wouldn’t be able to list all of them, but she can remember writing each one. What she really remembers about her works, is her readers responses and that’s what really keeps her going.

Even after hitting 300 books, Yolen is still going.  Currently she has about thirty completed books and proposals out at publishing houses right now.  She even expects to finish one or two more by the end of September. Clearly Yolen is going for 400 books!

Darklight (Wondrous Strange, #2)A uthor Lesley Livingston is going to be at a red carpet event!  That is the Teen Read Awards, her book Darklight has been nominated for Best Canadian Read.

She’s not the only one who is going, author Becca Fitzpatrick (Hush, Hush series), and Ally Carter (Gallagher Girls series) are just a few who will be attending the event.

Night Rising (Vampire Babylon, #1)

Chris Marie Green, author of the Vampire Babylon series, is coming out with a new series—Bloodlands. Here are the rock’in titles for the book in order; Bloodlands, Blood Rules, and In Blood We Trust. A post-apocalyptic western/urban fantasy trilogy. At this point no release dates available yet. Explore this hot new series over at the author’s new site dedicated to her new trilogy, www.bloodlands.com.

Tempting Danger (World of the Lupi, #1)

Death Magic is the name for author Eileen Wilks latest book in her World of the Lupi series. Death magic will bring Wilks series up to book 7.  The book doesn’t have a set date yet, but is expected around at the end of 2011 or the beginning of 2012.

Wilks is also releasing a short story in a Christmas anthology due out next year.

This one's going to be about "baby's first Christmas"--Cynna & Cullen's baby, that is--and some unusual teenage delinquents. Turns out adolescent rebellion crosses species lines just fine. No title yet, but among other things you'll find out what the "C" couple named their baby.

Double Cross (The Disillusionists Trilogy, #2)

Author Carolyn Crane is another author plagued by her loving fans insistent cries for a 3rd book in her Disillusionist series.  Rest assured there will be a third book, goodreads already has the series listed as a Trilogy.  The Crane states:

whether the title will indeed be "Kickass Title" or not. Or Mind Cross!

Along with the announcement of the final name of the book, she will also have the release date. Personally I’m all in for the Kickass Title.  For now, just appease yourself with this excerpt from her second book, Double Cross, which will be released this month on the 28th.

Another note from the author:

Just FYI, if anybody would like one or more free bookmarks (I made one with MIND GAMES stuff on one side & DOUBLE CROSS stuff on the other), please email me at carolyn@authorcarolyncrane.com with your snailmail address and I'll send asap!!

Goddess of the Rose (Goddess Summoning, #4)

It seems like more and more books are taking the trend of being made into graphic novels.  Stephanie Meyer’s Twilight and Ellen Schreiber’s Vampire Kisses are the first ones off the top of my head. Well author P.C. Cast is now the latest author to take the plunge.

Sea Lion Books has officially made the announcement. The graphic novel will be recasting her book 4th book in her Goddess Summoning series, The Goddess of the Rose.

Cast couldn’t be happier with the news:

“I grew up reading comics - old school Superman, Swamp Thing, Thor, Batman, Incredible Hulk, Fantastic Four, etc... Superheroes filled my childhood and shaped my imagination. So it’s with great affection and pleasure that I enter the incredible playground of graphic novels. Plus, its super cool to see my characters and world and magic come to life.”

I wish Lauren Kate had written that prequel first so I might have a clue what was going on in Fallen....

I know!! It seems like all of the authors do this. The create a complicated world, and then go back and right the prequel.
